ChronoChainPedia (sometimes CCP) is a public, wiki-style encyclopedia of human history whose articles, edits and citations are anchored on the Chia Network blockchain. It is best understood as the sum of three older ideas — Wikipedia's open editorial model, the non-fungible token's permanent on-chain provenance, and the ancient practice of writing on papyrus — fused on top of a modern proof-of-space-and-time consensus protocol that does not require energy-intensive mining hardware.
ChronoChainPedia exists because trust in centralised historical record-keeping collapsed in the early 22nd century. Where governments could rewrite a previous decade with a single legislative session, ChronoChainPedia offers an alternative: a record whose every revision lives in a tamper-evident chain of blogs[1], each cryptographically linked to the one before it, each minted as an immutable NFT, each citable by content hash rather than URL.

Overview
ChronoChainPedia is operated as a non-profit collective by a rotating editorial body whose membership is itself recorded on chain. Anyone may submit an article, an edit, a translation or a citation. The system does not require an account in the traditional sense — submissions are signed with a Chia-compatible wallet, and an author is identified by the public key that signed the contribution. Articles are not stored on a single server; they are plotted across thousands of farmer nodes worldwide, replicated by design.
The original 21st-century inspiration is acknowledged on every page: Wikipedia for the editorial gesture, NFT for the proof of authorship, papyrus for the discipline of writing for posterity rather than for the moment.
Etymology
The term ChronoChainPedia is a portmanteau of three roots:
- Chrono- from chronology — the ordered recording of events in time.
- Chain from blockchain — the cryptographic substrate that secures every record.
- -Pedia from encyclopedia and Wikipedia — a comprehensive, communal collection of knowledge.
The combined name signals the platform's intent: an encyclopedic record of history, secured by a blockchain, indexed by time.
History
The platform was first proposed in a short 2026-era memo titled "To create a word that encapsulates the concept of saving historical data using blockchain technology with the essence of Wikipedia, NFT, papyrus, encyclopedia, and history in mind." The memo's author argued that the centralisation of historical archives in state and corporate datacentres represented a single point of failure for an entire civilisation's memory.
The first prototype ran on a permissioned Chia testnet during the early phase of the financial-crisis era described in Part Three of the novel. After the global purge of decentralised tokens, ChronoChainPedia migrated to the public Chia mainnet and adopted the NFT-1 / CHIP-0007 metadata standard, allowing each article version to be minted as an addressable on-chain object with a stable content hash.
Technology
Chia foundation
ChronoChainPedia is built on the Chia Network, a blockchain whose consensus mechanism is Proof of Space and Time (PoST). PoST is a deliberate departure from the energy-hungry Proof of Work used by earlier cryptocurrencies. Instead of forcing miners to compete on raw compute, Chia rewards farmers who pre-commit large amounts of unused disk space — called plots — and prove they continue to hold that space across time using verifiable delay functions.
This matters to ChronoChainPedia for three reasons. First, it dramatically reduces the energy cost of preserving the chain of history. Second, it broadens participation: any node with surplus storage can take part, not only those with industrial-scale GPU farms. Third, it aligns the incentive structure with the platform's purpose — farmers are paid to store, which is exactly what an encyclopedia of history needs.

Data model
Each article in ChronoChainPedia is represented as a chain of blogs — semantically equivalent to a Wikipedia revision, but minted as a Chia NFT-1 token. The NFT's metadata follows CHIP-0007 and points, by content hash, to one or more storage backends:
- The article body itself, stored as a content-addressable object (CAS) on a distributed file system (commonly IPFS-pinning is used as a hot tier).
- A merkle tree of citations, each citation also a content hash.
- The previous revision's NFT identifier, forming a per-article chain nested inside the larger Chia chain.
The result is a two-layer chain: the underlying Chia mainnet provides global ordering and tamper-evidence; each article maintains its own internal chain of revisions, anchored to the mainnet at every block.
Chialisp smart coins
Editorial rules are not enforced by a central server but by Chialisp smart coins — Chia's coin-set-model contracts. A handful of standard puzzles are used:
SubmitRevision— accepts a signed delta against a parent revision; mints a new NFT-1 if the signature and the delta are well-formed.ChallengeRevision— locks a small CAT (Chia Asset Token) bond against a claim that a revision violates the editorial rules; resolves to either accept or burn the bond depending on the outcome of the dispute.RewardCurator— disburses curator rewards in CAT to authors of revisions that survive a fixed challenge window untouched.
Offer files — Chia's atomic, peer-to-peer trade primitive — are used by translators and citation auditors to exchange specific revisions for bounty CATs without a custodial intermediary.
Article lifecycle
- Draft. An author writes an article off-chain, signs it with a Chia-compatible wallet, and submits the signed payload to a public mempool of pending revisions.
- Mint. A farmer node validates the submission against the article's
SubmitRevisionpuzzle and includes it in the next block. The revision is now an addressable NFT. - Challenge window. For a fixed period — typically the equivalent of one week of farmer time — any holder of curator CATs may file a challenge against the revision.
- Resolution. If no challenge is raised, the revision becomes the article's canonical head, and the author is rewarded. If a challenge is raised, the dispute is resolved on chain via Chialisp logic; either side's bond may be burned.
- Permanence. Whether canonical or rejected, the revision remains on chain forever. Nothing is deleted; only the head pointer of an article advances.
Governance
ChronoChainPedia is governed by a rotating Editorial Cooperative whose seats are themselves Chialisp coins. Holding a seat allows a member to vote on protocol-level changes — e.g., the length of the challenge window, the parameters of curator rewards, or the addition of new language editions. Crucially, the cooperative cannot rewrite or delete an existing article. The chain is append-only by construction.
In practice this means ChronoChainPedia errs on the side of inclusion. Apparent disagreements about historical fact tend to be resolved by adding a new article, not by overwriting an old one. Two contradictory accounts of the same event may both live, with cross-references between them, and the reader is expected to weigh them.
In the novel
In Shoothis: The Quantum Renegade, ChronoChainPedia is the public face of the work the Flowers team has been doing in private for decades. The hundred-piece NFT collection that GestaZero quietly assembles in Part One, Chapter 12 is, in effect, an early version of a single ChronoChainPedia article — the article that Part Three calls Altered History. By the events of Part Three, Chapter 9, the team has decided to publish the chronicle in full, and ChronoChainPedia is the destination.
Within the novel, ChronoChainPedia is also the answer to the existential question Shoothis poses in Part Five: if it takes an observer for him to exist, the best thing he can do is make sure there are as many observers as possible — on his side, telling the truth.

Project Blowfish
Originally a 1990s-era symmetric block cipher released into the public domain by its author, the name Blowfish was adopted by a 22nd-century resistance project led by Ainiri. AIHC is mined using disk storage, not GPU or CPU computation, which placed it outside the scope of the original ban. Its survival is widely credited as the reason the Chia substrate that ChronoChainPedia depends on remains operational at all.
qBSD
Operating system co-developed by the Flowerers, designed to attach data packets to qubits within the quantum network. Provides anonymity and the ability to analyse qubit flow that other systems cannot. See the Dossiers page.

Flowerers
A 22nd-century cell of cyberspace specialists who refuse to plug into the global network and prefer meeting in physical gardens. They are descended in spirit, if not in fact, from the British phreaker collectives of the early 21st century. See Part Four, Chapter 2.
